It'll be so good to see Sam.
& Natalie - do you reckon Judith'll get jealus or what?

I think Morag should come back too.
- She hasn't seen Alf for all these years.
She could come back to be angry @ Alf for giving Celia all th@ $money.
& stir up trouble like Diana always did.
She could threaten to buy the Caravan Park or something.

Another good season finale would be...
Lance coming back to see Colleen & he should stay a few weeks & then call up
Les to come back to see Colleen unaware th@ he's ripped her off again. It
should end with him walking into the mobile home.
Although th@'s not all th@ dramatic.
Anyone else got any suggestions?

I just saw the cut-out from the Evening Herald on Steven's site and I don't think we really have much to worry about. I think it is probably just a case of sloppy reporting and journalism. They're more than likely talking about the ITV/Ch 5 situation.

Strange... I read the article on your site and at first I thought they were getting confused with ITV. They say "H&A is no longer screened by RTE" - I assume they meant "not currently", but then it says "may not be back on *our* screens until 2001". I suppose if it doesn't reappear in early September we'll know.

I know Tammy (barely though) and she is in yr 11 this year, so that makes her 16 or 17.

Wow! I actually thought that she would be nice! I mean that insurance on her hair is a load of crap, someone should break into her house one day and cut it all off, she is so up herself but they way that you said about her. Oh, do you know how old she is? About 15 or 16, right? Well, about that acting stuff, she's okay, but not the best. Being the worst in your class must be so embarrassing, I mean I so acting but that's okay because I'm good at it! I'm not bragging. Well, anyway that's all for now. I hope she doesn't get to go with Will (Zac) that's not fair!!

on the official H&A page I read the transcript of Zac Drayson's online chat from May and he said that in a couple of months they would be going back to the original theme. So we have hope.

That doesn't sound good at all... I think you said a few weeks ago that H&A said was returning in September - and I also heard this from another source. Perhaps the situation has changed since? I thought the long break was to put some space between RTE and Australia, and the reason 3 weeks were extended was maybe because Australia is dropping 5 weeks for Olympics. "Legal problems" doesn't sound good. Obviously RTE's situation has nothing at all to do with ITV. I'm only guessing, but could this be to do with the fact RTE went an episode ahead of schedule and they are being "punished"?

Sally is getting over her obsessive compulsive disorder and Luke is about to make advances on her Nik has taken up skateboarding as kirsty likes it Vinnie and Leah are back together after vman cooked her dinner Shauna and harry are having problems again

Ailsa's departure

OK, what happened was Sally and her fiancé didn't end up buying the caravan park (in fact they didn't even end up getting married!!) A new family, the Sutherland family bought the caravan park, and they have three daughters, Danni is one of them. I'm not entirely sure what's happening with Ken and Irene but I think they are still getting married eventually. Judith (Edward's mum) is still friends with fisher, but she sort of had a thing going with Joel until Gypsy decided she didn't like it. But then she decided she was fine with it...she's just acting pretty weird lately. Shauna knows all about Ailsa, but it's really annoying COs it's a different actress playing Ailsa at the moment, and it's not the same. Anyway, I think that's about all that's happening at the moment. Hope it helped!!

Thanks for telling us about Tamin, it is interesting to hear this inside info. However, somehow I don't think you are right when you say she had to sign the contract because her character will be killed in 3 years. The scriptwriters only plot what will happen 6 months ahead, So there is no way they have already decided to kill Dani off in 3 years. The reason she would have had to sign a contract is because all the actors do, for varying lengths of time, but 3 years is a common length to start with. At the end of the 3 years the contract is up for renewal again, and often it is the actor who has the choice of leaving or staying. But sometimes the producers do decide it would be better to get rid of a character, So let an actor go. At other times, however, if an actor is not happy on the show and still have time left on their contract they can often re-negotiate and get out early. So basically, Tamin will most likely be on H&A for at least 3 years, at which time she may extend her contract or leave. If she ends up leaving at that time the scriptwriters may choose to kill off Dani, but that decision wouldn't be made for a long time yet.

OK correct me if I am wrong but I thought Bec was with a guy called Luke, she used to talk about him all the time in interviews and I've seen pics of him and magazines etc. Sorry to tell you that!!

I went to 'The Big Couch' yesterday with a few of my friends...Big couch is like a career expo for teenagers...and Zac Drayson was there talking about taking up acting as a career - he seems a pretty cool guy, and he's pretty funny...I asked him whether Bec Cartwright was single and she is (woopee!) and she's only 1 year older than me (woopee!) and yeah Zac said I had a chance if only I lived closer to her (woopee!) Nah seriously, he's a cool guy,

Well at sally's wedding Gypsy said you can't marry him he's been hit'n on me Danni has just came into the programme and has two sisters and they are twins Kirstie and Jade Danni can't sing Sally and the major jerk kiern are over and didn't bye the caravan park Danni's family now owns the caravan park Shauna knows that Ailsa is her REAL mother and Ailsa goes back to where she grew up and told Duncan the Shauna about their ancestors and Duncan found out that he tricked Shauna his older sister into kissing him As far as I know Ken and Irene are getting married and will is Ken's best man and Haley is the brides made nothings happening with the Judith and Don but there's something between Joel and Judith

My friend at school is really good friends with the girl who plays Dani, so I have some inside info..... -Her real name is "Tammy" but she changed it to "Tamin" probably because it was more interesting and suitable for a tryhard actress. -She has insurance on her hair!!! Which means, if a hairdresser cuts her hair too short then she can sue them! -She wears the Summer Bay Uniform around the house -When she joined HandA, she had to sign a contract because her character will be killed off in 3 years! -She went to acting school with my friend and she was practically the worst in the class! -Being on Home and Away has given her a REALLY big head!

I'm glad to see you think Ryan is such a great actor (and such a babe too!). I also really hope he doesn't leave the show, but I know he originally signed a 3 year contract, and that was around the end of 1997, so we will just have to wait and see (and hope he has re-signed for longer on the show!). Vinnie is just such a great character, it would be a shame to lose him, especially after all the other cast changes recently.

WHO THINKS THAT WILL AND DANI GET TOGETHER IT SURE LOOKED LIKE SHE LIKED HIM IN LAST NIGHTS EPISODE WHEN HE SAID SOMETHING AND SHE SAYS MAYBE AND THEN GOES TO KISS HIM AND THEN SAYS MAYBE NOT. I AGREE DANI CANT SING!!!!!!!!

I'm just a HandA fan from England and have discovered the best places to get this kind of information from. As well as the press, and of course here, good places to look are the HandA newsgroup at alt.tv.home-and-away, and the soaps forum on the C5 website www.channel5.co.uk C5 regularly contribute to the discussions. The 5 text Soaps news page (p407) currently has an article about ITV holding onto the rights for HandA. I've also seen statements directly from ITV and the Office of Fair Trading who C5 have complained to

Home and Away on UK Living is ok if you're not at work, in which case at 9.30am I am at work and would have to find the time to watch it if I recorded it, however saying that if I get that desperate enough I might just watch it all over again

yeah I totally agree Cameron is such a babe so is Zac. Do you think he will get with the new girl Dani?? And did any one watch last night She can't sing to save her self. Well her character couldn't anyway.

This is kinda common knowledge really, it's what Carlton/ITV are telling everyone and what has been broadcast in the media about it

how do you know this about H and Away in England as we don't even know there hasn't been anything about it just that the currant series ended on 8th June 2000

ITV's contract in the UK doesn't expire until 14 JULY 2001, and at the moment it looks like ITV are going to prevent C5 from continuing with the program until after this date! Even if the worse comes to the worse and C5 aren't allowed to show HandA until then, C5 will gradually catch up again over the next few years.

I have a friend who works at RTE and has had a look in their scheduling database. HandA is due to return on RTE on MONDAY 4 SEPTEMBER. The delay is almost certainly because Seven have decided to take a FIVE week break for the Olympics, so after this and the Christmas break in Australia RTE will catch up again to within a month or so of the Aussie transmissions at the start of 2001.

Seeing as we are now going into our seventh week of no home and away, does anyone else think the announcer who introduced the last episode we saw may have made a mistake. Could she have meant Home and Away would return in 3 MONTHS, instead of 3 WEEKS????? Ah well, almost 2 months down already. At least we are guaranteed to get it back before the end of the year, unlike our poor friends in the UK, so we shouldn't grumble.

I'm a fan from England of the great programme, and miss it very much here. Does anyone on the network read this, When are we getting Home and Away back in England. They have left it just before Sally gets married here. My tea times are not the same without this programme. Hurry up and bring it back on in England. Does anyone know?

I don't know exactly where you can get the uniform, but I'm pretty sure one of the high schools in Wagga Wagga in NSW uses the same one. I'm sure I saw kids walking around in it, or at least one very similar, when I was there last year. Maybe try contacting one of the companies who sell school uniforms??? Sorry I can't be of more help.

As far as I know, Emily Symons is living in England with her fiancé, Matt Le Tisser, a Southampton Footballer

Is there anyone who knows what Emily Symons is up to now and do you have an address to her?

It took me a day to recognise him, I kept thinking about all the Aussie TV shows and forgot about Breakers. ...then I remembered. Also, *if* Ken leaves (and Ailsa) (and Edward and Peta), there will be 5 spare squares in the Opening Credits. I wonder if they'll move some others around to make the Sutherlands together. What's that mystery with Colleen next week?

Did anyone recognise Kel (Danni's city bf) as the guy from Breakers? It took me ages to work out where I knew him from

It's just occurred to me now that the home and away scriptwriters could have had a hell of a lot more fun with writing Tom Nash out of the show. (Okay, so it's a little late for these kind of comments, but Tom never was all that noticeable even when he was in the show, so forgive me for my delayed reaction to his departure). Considering he left a day or two after Gilly (and with the extreme unlikelihood of him ever returning to the show) couldn't they have made his exit more dramatic.... they had ample opportunity to do so... I was thinking how cool it would have been if it had gone something along the lines of the following. *** Tom is furious that Gilly has been cheating on him and playing him for a fool. He's already had up-close experience of this with both his mother and sister, and he really cannot abide it. Seeing his own fiancé doing the same thing just makes him crack. He suddenly comes to hate women because they all seem to do the same thing to men, good men, like him, his dad, Will... Tom is freaked. When he takes gilly out on his boat alone, he plans to confront her. But his anger and frustration builds, and when he does, and she claims that she really does love him, he just can't take any more. He hits her in a moment of sheer insanity. Gilly staggers backwards and bangs her head on the yachts mast. Tom stands in shock as she reels away clutching her head - and stumbles unconscious over the edge of the boat, plunging into the sea. Instantly he reacts and rushes to the edge. There is no sign of Gilly. He shouts her name but she doesn't surface. He dives into the sea and attempts to find her. There is no sign of her body. His efforts to locate her are in vain. It's too late. Clearly her body has already sunk too deep. There is no way to save her. Tom gets back onto his boat, fully aware that he has just committed a first degree murder. He only has two choices. Go to the police, are run for it. He knows Gypsy saw him going out in the boat with Gilly.... he can't claim he didn't see her and when he doesn't come back with her there will be too many questions... Racked with guilt he makes his decision... ---- What do you reckon he would have done??? Turned himself in??? Done a runner??? Either way it would have gotten rid of the character in a much more dramatic and memorable way. I'm getting sick of all these characters who just hitchhike out of town. Boring!!! Something like this wouldn't have cost any more time or money to do and would have been a lot more interesting. Even if Tom simply vanished out to sea on his yacht never to be seen again......how much better an ending for the character... anyway. just my thoughts. if I was in charge of home and away, that's what I would have done. thanks for listening! anybody else have any 'alternative endings' they would have liked to see for other stories/characters that have been tied up a little less satisfactorily than they might have been?

Yes, The event I was talking about was in UK and I had heard on this list that she was over here.

Aleetza is overseas as I know her step father.

I just hope that it never gets like Neighbours.. I have experimented with watching that on several occasions over the years - and have either been bored, thought they couldn't be serious, or just revolted... Sorry to any fans - it's probably just me! On the subject of derogatory references, Eric Robson, on today's BBC Radio 4 gardener's Question Time, after a jokey suggestion that Australian plants should have Neighbours played to them to make them feel at home, replied that it sold not be HandA as this would cause immediate death. I have managed to restrain myself from complaining... And another tentative inquiry: Any one know if Aleetza Wood might have been at this weekend's Glastonbury Festival, or is she now back in Aus? If not, she has a double who was trying hard not to look like her!

I guess the whole of Palm Beach and surrounding area is pretty much prime development territory - even though a little way up the coast people can hardly give properties away (decent bungalows in beautiful locations for the price of the most modest flat in humble surroundings in UK).

This idiot wrote into the local TV guide stating that Shauna could not be Ailsa's daughter because Blake and Karen were her children of the same age. Um, I don't think so. They were fostered/adopted because their mother died and their mother was a friend of Ailsa's. They also have a different last name to Ailsa. Maybe people should check their facts before they write stupid things into the magazine for everything to read. The editor was even more stupid with his reply.

Well if they are leaving it must be together because I heard that on the QLD picnic day Joel spilled that he would be marrying Judith... so take that as you like it but it's like someone else said Judith won't be the same with out Edward. Also I didn't see Friday night's ep the 24th of June in Melbourne so if anyone could tell me what happen it would be good what happen with that Tape what did Edwards father say to make Edward want to go overseas? Must be off

The filming gap is 12-13 weeks currently (13 weeks for location scenes and 12 weeks for studio). I know Ailsa will still be in the series in late September, as she is in the episodes currently being filmed, but I can't be sure how long she will stay after that.

I wrote to ITV and got the usual standard letter back, so I wrote again saying I bet they never even bother to read our complaints, that they probably see the heading and just send out the same old response. Here is the answer I received to the second letter. Beginning to sound a bit hostile don't you think??

I heard a rumour HandA was being "re-invented" (like ACP was). I suppose this would be the opportunity to ditch the Caravan Park and any remaining cast members who have survived the axe so far! I heard it was being sold, but I never realised it could be up for demolition! Apart from HandA losing its key location, it would seem a big shame to bulldoze that nice house. Couldn't the makers of HandA put in a bid - too expensive I suppose?

I have heard that this is true. Ailsa will apparently die in a landslide or something similar. I think the episodes were filmed recently, or maybe are being currently filmed. I suppose this means the storyline will air in about 8 to 10 weeks. Sally's wedding was filmed back in March as far as I know, so it could actually be nearer 12 weeks. Ailsa has more skeletons in her closet than anyone else. Maybe Ailsa is really Donald's half-sister or something? :-) Even thought the character of Ailsa is generally wasted serving milkshakes in the Diner, she is one of HandA's most complex and deep characters. I'm not too sure about that. I got the impression she was axed, but it could well have been Judy's decision to leave.

... and on the subject of all these departures: Jesse, Marilyn, Justine, James, Tom, Sam, Natalie, Peta, Edward, Ailsa, and rumours of Ken, Joel and Judith, and maybe even Irene - who has been rumoured to leave for ages. That's most of the cast... The latest *rumour* though is that HandA is talking a 3 week break for the Olympics and will return as a different show. Perhaps they are going to get rid of even more people? Maybe Summer Bay will be wiped out by a tidal wave with only Sally, Alf and Donald surviving and they re-settle in Yabbie Creek? (That sort of things has happened in other series...).

For an old conservative he sure sows a lot of wild oats doesn't he???? But this would just be too much!! After just discovering Shauna is Ailsa's daughter???!?!? I don't think even HandA's writers would push two such stories on us so close together....

No-one said for sure that Joel and Judith are leaving, we're just speculating!!!! Somebody said they'd seen a recent cast list without Joel on it..... we're just speculating really... I wouldn't be surprised though.

So Joel and Judith are leaving. When? Don deserves to be principal again since he now has nothing else to live for. I heard Harry's mum is arriving and I also heard about secrets being revealed which made me think Harry might be Don's son! (Think about it he already has Rebecca, Alan, Bobby and Byron by different mother's so he's already a serial father so it's possible).

Does anyone really care if Joel leaves the show? Or Judith for that matter....? I mean, without Nat, Joel seems irrelevant, and without Edward, Judith will be the same... Just goes to show just how unimportant some characters in the show can be. The sign of a good character is one that can continue to be interesting and generate storylines, even after their wife/husband/mother/father/son or whatever leaves the show. If the character cant live up to that then it was clearly a case of one strong character carrying one weak one...which I think is the case with Judith, and seems to be with Joel. Which is a pity because summer bay needs a regular cop. I miss Chris Hale badly. Anyway, Don needs to be Principal again. It's not the same not seeing him in that office. It's where he belongs.

Don will take the job of principal back.

I heard at the start of the year that Joel was going to run off with the principal but considering her relationship with Donald I thought he was wrong but may be he was correct. If so who will be the new principal?? What does everyone else think.

A case of life imitating art - I suspect Diana Fraser Developments! ;-) Was Ailsa on the list?

Are they actually thinking of demolishing the existing building? Such a shame - I know we only get to see the best angles, but it looks like a nice old house and the garden looks wonderful (but then I am biased about anywhere which has rampant wisteria..

I have seen a cast list for episodes being filmed now, and there are currently 23 regular cast members. As we already knew, Peta and Edward are leaving soon, so they are not on it. But also missing are Joel and Ken. And there is a new character called Brodie. There will also be a guest character called Noah. In other news, later this month 'Jackaroo', the historic homestead where they film the caravan park scenes, will be auctioned. Apparently it is believed the location is perfect for a hotel development, so they might have to look for somewhere else to film the caravan park scenes, or else get rid of that landmark entirely. And this month Rowena Wallace will finally be on our screens, playing Harry's mother, June Reynolds. She is a pub owner who comes to Summer Bay to see Harry and also work on her memoirs. Harry is not impressed with the autobiography though, as he does not like what his mother has written about his father. At first June doesn't get on with Donald, but apparently they connect over the writing and there is a possibility of romance.

Is Ailsa really going to die? Does anyone know when exactly this is going to happen. I hope it's not for a while. Ailsa is the next most integral character after Pippa. I hope it was Judy's choice to leave the show and not some over zealous producer. What are these "series of truths" that will change people's lives. I thought we had plenty of them already, with what happened to Mitch's mother and Shauna being Ailsa's daughter and all. What else is left?

Anybody know? The 'three week' they announced it was taking is now going into its fourth week, and someone else recently stated it would be off for 6-7 weeks.....Is there any confirmed date for its return yet? Knowing RTE I've probably missed a few episodes already due to them sneakily sticking it on every so often without telling anyone. They have a bad habit of doing that...

According to Inside Soap, Belinda Emmett will definitely be in some episodes of All Saints as the ward clerk. It should be good to see her doing some acting, considering all she has really done since HandA is presenting.

I e-mailed ITV and got this reply. I take it it's a standard one, so I don't see a problem with forwarding it to the list. Forgive me... :-)

Subject: Re: Home and Away
Thank you for taking the time to contact ITV with regard to Home and Away. ITV very much wanted to keep the series, which it has screened for 12 years, despite the fact that over the years, its popularity has declined and a host of major characters have left the show. However, the programmes producer, Seven Network Australia, decided to pull the show away from ITV and sell it to Channel 5, knowing that this would cause the show to be off air for a period since ITV had a contract through until July 2001. Channel 5 were fully aware of this contractual situation, as was the production company, but they still chose to take the show away from ITV. Obviously the market for acquired programmes is fiercely competitive and broadcasters have to know that contracts give them some protection, which is why ITV must stick to the letter of its contract otherwise its commercial position will be negatively affected. This situation would have been avoided if the producers had not decided to sell the show to Channel 5. In fact, ITV had offered to assist the producers with creative involvement aimed at raising the editorial standards of the show and winning back some of the lost viewers. ITV regrets this situation and any inconvenience caused to its viewers, but the Network has been placed in an impossible situation by Home and Away's producers who unfortunately did not have the viewers in mind when they took the decision to sell the show to Channel 5.
Kind regards,
Paul Chappell

I got hold of a new "cast list" and it contains the all the Sutherlands, and it's the usual 22 people long - so no new space is needed. This means though that 4 of the current regulars must be leaving (it's not too hard to work out who they probably are)

That was me, I actually said an explosion. I chose the surf club because it's a popular hang out and away of getting a many people in there as possible. If the storyline did go ahead would that bee on hell of a coincidence?

When the Sutherlands are placed in the opening credits the isn't going to be enough room for them. Also people that are leaving wont be leaving for a while yet. So I thought they might just speed them up. I looked at the current credits and thought, "THEY CANT GO ANY FASTER !". So maybe we might be seeing the verse: LET ME BE THE ONE THAT YOU TURN TO SOMEONE YOU CAN RELY ON CLOSER EACH DAY HOME AND AWAY I timed it and an extra 5ive people would fit perfectly !
